Welcome to our Priority Care Pediatrics Nutrition page! We now have a dietitian on staff to help you and your child with all your nutrition needs! Our services are available Monday - Friday from 8:15 am-5:00 pm, with a limited number of evening and weekend appointments.

What is a dietitian?

Registered Dietitians are nutrition experts and the most credible source of information for food and nutrition-related topics. Our Registered Dietitian has the skills and knowledge to translate food and nutrition science into practical information. For this reason, we also call our dietitian a Clinical Nutrition Specialist. Our dietitian will be working hand in hand with your child's physician to provide the most appropriate care possible. When you see the RD initials you can be confident our dietitian has:

  • Completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in nutrition
  • Completed a supervised dietetics internship program
  • Passed a national exam
  • Maintained continuing education hours

Nutrition Topics:

  • Overweight/Obesity
  • Underweight/Failure to Thrive
  • Tube Feeding
  • Food Allergies
  • Picky Eating

  • Prenatal Nutrition and Nutrition During Lactation
  • Disease Specific Medical Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition Counseling and Education Services:

  • Health Screenings: Your health is our top priority. Be proactive about your health by allowing our dietitian to administer a health screening. You will get fast and accurate results for:
    • Cholesterol
    • Blood pressure
    • Glucose
    • Body fat
    • BMI
    • Iron

  • Monthly Classes: We will be holding educational classes or events on a monthly basis. Some events will be complimentary, while others will have a fee. Please call us or visit our website to learn about upcoming classes.

  • Individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy: With your doctor’s referral, our dietitian will develop an individualized nutrition plan to address specific health care needs such as weight loss/gain, high blood pressure, diabetes, food allergy/intolerance and hyperlipidemia. Medical nutrition therapy will be administered in conjunction with YOUR doctor’s recommendations.

  • Healthy Priorities Weight Management Program: A comprehensive weight management program based on the staged intervention treatment approach for weight loss. Our program focuses on eating for good health, physical activity and behavior change. Our multi-disciplinary team consists of a pediatrician, nurse practitioner, psychologist, dietitian, lactation consultant and personal trainer. Each child will get a health screening (including labs) and then get treatment based on the intervention stage the pediatrician and dietitian feel is appropriate. Each stage will be tailored to each individual patient’s needs.

For questions or to schedule an appointment please call us at 816-412-2900. You can also let your doctor know that you want to speak with the dietitian. We look forward to seeing you!
