When Can I Schedule a Sick Visit?
We understand that children don’t always get sick on a schedule. That’s why Priority Care Pediatrics offers same-day sick appointments Monday through Saturday — so your child can be seen quickly when they’re not feeling well.
We also provide a convenient Walk-In Clinic at our Parkville location, open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM for same-day concerns — no appointment required.
If you prefer, you’re also welcome to schedule a sick visit in advance when possible.
If you’re ever unsure whether your child needs to be seen, simply call our office or send a message through the Patient Portal to our advice nurses. Our experienced triage staff will ask a few questions about your child’s symptoms, assess the urgency, and help determine whether an office visit is needed.
What Happens During a Sick Child Visit?
The purpose of a sick visit is to quickly identify what’s causing your child’s symptoms and begin the right treatment to help them feel better as soon as possible.
During the visit, your provider will review your child’s symptoms, medical history, and any recent health changes. Depending on their condition, the visit may include a physical exam — such as checking the heart, neck, throat, and ears — and, when appropriate, in-office tests like strep, flu, COVID, or urine testing to confirm a diagnosis.
Our goal is always to provide answers, comfort, and a clear plan to get your child back to feeling their best.
Acute Sick Visits
Acute sick visits are designed to address many types of illnesses and minor injuries that require same-day or next-day medical care. Because children’s symptoms can change quickly, don’t hesitate to call if your child’s condition worsens or you’re unsure whether they need to be seen.
Our team provides expert care for a wide range of common concerns, including:
- Abdominal pain
- Allergic reactions
- Asthma and wheezing
- Congestion and coughs
- Earaches
- Eye discharge or infections
- Flu and upper respiratory infections
- Headaches
- Rashes or hives
- Sore throat or strep throat
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea
- and more!
We also treat minor injuries, such as cuts, scrapes, or bruises, to help your child heal safely and comfortably.
Non-Acute Sick Visits
Not every illness or concern needs same-day care — and we’re here for those, too. Non-acute sick visits are for health issues that aren’t urgent but still deserve attention from your child’s pediatrician.
These visits can be scheduled in advance and are ideal for:
- Ongoing or recurrent symptoms such as stomachaches, headaches, fatigue, or coughs that won’t go away
- Skin conditions like rashes, acne, or eczema
- Behavioral or sleep concerns
- Allergies, asthma check-ins, or medication refills
- Follow-up visits after an illness or ER/Urgent Care visit
- and more!
At Priority Care Pediatrics, our goal is to keep care consistent and coordinated — with your child’s provider who knows them best. We’ll take time to listen, evaluate, and create a plan that fits your child’s needs.
